She played at Cape Coast Volleyball club for two years and then switched to Orlando Volleyball Academy her 15’s year. As a Junior in high school, Sofia committed to Xavier University on a full scholarship. On the first day of preseason at XU Sofia fractured her back, thus resulting in her having to medically “red shirt” her freshman year. After 9 months of treatment and recovery, Sofia came into her Sophomore year with high hopes, yet suffered another back fracture and spent another 6 months in and out of doctors offices. Even having missed two seasons of her college career she refused to give up and made a full recovery. Nominated as team captain by her teammates for her remaining college years, Sofia earned All Big East First Team honors as well as AVCA All East Region honors, and was nominated for All American honors. She was named MVP of her team her senior year. After her collegiate career, Sofia toured with an American team and had the opportunity to play volleyball in Italy, Austria, and France, yet decided not to sign an official contract to join a team overseas and decided to move back close to her family in Melbourne. It is here that she has decided to continue contributing towards her passion for volleyball by coaching.
